IF the Federal Government had implemented the White Paper on the
report of the Presidential Task Force on the Aviation Sector set up by
former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the present rot in the industry
would have been averted.
From infrastructure decay, manpower
shortage, dearth of funds, poor aviation safety standard and security
challenges, and corruption, the sector appears set for another distress.
Perhaps,
yes perhaps, if financial audit had been carried out earlier than now,
Nigerians would have known how financially healthy the airlines are. The
carriers’ precarious state has led to insinuations that the airlines
are cutting corner.
