Gyang died last Saturday in Bakin-Ladi Local Council of Plateau State during the burial of scores of people killed by gunmen. He was reported to have died of exhaustion during a stampede. He died along with Majority Leader of Plateau State House of Assembly, Gyang Fulani.
Senate President David Mark, after the approval of the votes and proceedings of last week, called on the federal upper legislative Majority Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, to call the business of the day and he told the chamber that last Saturday, a shocking news came that one of their colleagues, Dantong Gyang passed on at the weekend in a stampede. The Majority Leader said that in line with the tradition of the chamber, a minute silence would be observed and the business of the day would be adjourned in his honour.
