The streets of Jos, the Plateau State
capital, were deserted as residents observed the curfew imposed by the
state government on Sunday.
The curfew was imposed by Governor Jonah
Jang following the deteriorating security situation after the killing
of Senator Gyang Dantong and Gyang Fulani, Majority Leader, Plateau
House of Assembly.
Hundreds of Berom youths reportedly blocked major roads in Riyom and Barkin Ladi in protest against the lawmakers’ death.
Reports said security officials had a tough time preventing the group of youths from reprisals.
